Web development. Retail chain training

The is an example of our web and CMS development project for a retail chain training registration and tracking programme, - secure, for internal use, featuring the front end for general employees access and registration and the backend for tracking applications and monitoring the overall progress.

There were 3 major deliverables/requirements with this assignment: (1) security, (2) fool-proof front end and (3) extensive backend for tracking and monitoring training programme. Due to a certain resources availability at the time we've chosen it to be developed and implemented on the Windows platform (ASP 2, MSSQL). All modules/code have been done from scratch.

General system descrition and logic:

Phase 1

DCG to communicate all (674) store managers informing them of the training programme. Within this communication there will be the definitive dates and venue(s) for the Store Managers’ and chosen advocates’ attendance. There will be only one advocate per store. There will be an invitation and link to an online form to register their own and their advocate’s participation in the programme.

DCG to comms all (674) store managers informing them of the colleagues programme registration. Link to online registration also provided.

  • Colleagues will fall in to two categories defined by store brand i.e Currys / Dixons or PCWorld employees. We will need to allocate a store brand against
the unique store id so that we can filter Currys / Dixons and PCWorld employees out later at administration level.
  • Training days will be spread over a range of dates and locations.
  • Each storewill be allocated a definitive number of staff thatwill need to attend training days. For example: store 2356will need to send 10 colleagues for training.
  • However, each store will only be able to send a few colleagues at a time so as not to leave the store understaffed.
  • Each training day will have a definitive capacity. This is set at 20 persons per training day.
  • The StoreManager will need to register their specified amount of colleagues for training across a range of dates and venues generated dynamically by the DB.

Phase 2

Phase two to commence development immediately after of delivery of Phase one. Administration - search and filter records return on:

  • all and /or Currys / Dixons and PC World colleagues
  • store id
  • regions and / or towns
  • unique event id
  • attendees / non-attendees (to be set in admin area)
  • other variables.
