Traditional project management for web design
Web design and development is one of the classical examples used for traditional full lifecycle planning project management training. - This process has a temporary endeavour and at the end it creates a unique product. Importance of project management in IT (web / software development) should not be underestimated, since more than anywhere else clients tend to introduce changes to scope, schedule and/or quality. Some projects even fall apart purely due to a poor project management.
So, how do we organise all our traditional project management efforts in web development? - We follow standard project management methodology, in particular originated from PMI (Project Management Institute). It does not mean we employ all 42 processes for each and every web development project we run. - No! It does not have to be like that. Many projects are being managed based on Agile methodology. However, when traditional PMI method is used it all depends on a scale of an individual project and customer particular requirements. But at least (and not last) we pay particular attention to Scope Definition and its boundaries. Everything is built around the final Scope Baseline.
Do we project manage our own web projects?
Yes, we certainly do! As, especially with medium and large companies, it would be disastrous not go through the requirements and stakeholder analysis, proper planning, monitoring, controlling and closing projects.
Do we offer project management services?
Yes we do. - You keep your relatioships with Client or Suppler and we step-in to provide our knoweldge, experience and communications skills to ensure that your project wih your Client or Supplier is properly defined, planned, executed, controlled and closed. In fact, having an outsourced project manager (or project management company) - (1) does not tie-up and stretch your resources, (2) you do not have to train them to be project managers.
